Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno participated in the roundtable discussion organized by the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, together with key officials of the Bureau of Customs (BOC), where the Bureau underscored its continuing efforts to modernize customs operations, strengthen trade facilitation, and improve engagement with the business community.
In his presentation, Nepomuceno highlighted the Bureau’s ongoing reforms focused on full digital transformation, organizational restructuring, and enhanced stakeholder engagement.
He discussed the Customs Processing System (CPS) and the adoption of advanced technologies to streamline customs processes, strengthen anti-smuggling efforts, and improve operational efficiency as part of the administration’s broader modernization initiatives under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

He also discussed reforms aimed at improving operational efficiency and responsiveness to stakeholders’ needs, including the planned establishment of a Top Importers Office, the strengthening of maritime enforcement capabilities against smuggling, and broader structural reforms within customs operations.

The dialogue reinforced the Bureau’s commitment to advancing its Integrity, Accountability, and Modernization (IAM) Program by strengthening collaboration with stakeholders and promoting transparent, efficient, and business-friendly customs processes.
Through sustained reforms and continued engagement with the private sector, the BOC aims to further enhance trade facilitation and support the country’s economic growth objectives.
