ON AIR WITH ONE AIR: THOMASIANS UNLEASH THEIR ROARING SPIRITS WITH TIGER SCORE

España, Manila — One Air Productions, 3COM1’s official student-led production house under the AB Communications Program of UST’s Faculty of Arts and Letters, debuted Tiger Score, a game show on all things sports! The show is centered on Thomasian stories and showcases their propensity to rise above challenges. It aims to bring out both the fun and competitive sides of Thomasians and proves to be a worthy contender for this year’s StreamCon, an annual event organized by the UST Communication Arts Students’ Association (CASA), serving as a competitive avenue for junior communication arts students from different blocks.

Aired last April 17 on UST Tiger TV, the first episode of the show opened with its “Claws Out” segment which featured the inspiring story of a Thomasian alumna commonly known as “Ate Yema.” Contestants from different colleges competed in a polvoron-eating contest, where the first four players who finished the fastest advanced to the next round. Eliza Adviento (Business Economics), Anton Villegas (Behavioral Science), Jiego Tagaban (History), Renzo Peñaverde (Fine Arts major in Advertising), and Ymanuel Roxas (Communication) went head-to-head, with Eliza Adviento finishing last. The four remaining players advanced to the Tiger’s Den, where they continued to compete in the succeeding rounds, “Tiger’s Lister” and “All-Out, Tigers!” — original concepts which featured live studio games.

“Tiger’s Lister” tested the players’ sports knowledge with a series of challenging questions under different categories, from UST athletes to The Olympics. Players would start off with a grade of 5.00 and race to answer multiple-choice questions. The first three players with grades closest to a 1.00 would move on to the next round. This segment had a total of three categories with three questions each.

“All Out, Tigers,” the program’s ending note, was a rapid-fire round where final players took turns in giving answers under selected categories until one player failed to answer—ending the category. Finalists Renzo Peñaverde and Ymanuel Roxas competed in a best-of-three game, with Ymanuel dominating the tie-breaking round.

With this, Ymanuel Roxas was declared the Tiger Score Champion, winning ₱2,500 worth of vouchers and cash prizes as well as a box of Red Bull energy drinks. He is Tiger Score’s first-ever winner and will be back to defend his crown on the show’s second episode.

Ymanuel will go head-to-head in another battle of wits and speed with Episode 2’s Tiger’s Lister winner on Monday, May 15th at 7:30 pm, live on UST Tiger TV.
