PAGADIAN SENIORS GET PRIZES FOR VACCINE JABS – CO

The city government of Pagadian is launching a “pabunot promo” to entice senior citizens to submit themselves to the government vaccination program. 

Mayor Samuel Co said he is coming up with the strategy after several senior citizens are hesitant to be inoculated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“The city government is offering free transportation to and from the vaccination site to senior citizens.”

Co said the city government is even offering free transportation to and from the vaccination site to senior citizens in rural barangays “but they still decline” to be inoculated.

Data from the Department of Health regional office showed that 4,110 senior citizens were inoculated as of June 3.

Of the total, 3,156 received their first dose while the remaining 954 got their second dose.

The mayor has tapped the assistance of different local business establishments like bakeshops, fast food chain, pastries, hardware and other stores to provide the needed prizes.

He said senior citizens, who fall under the A2 priority group, will be made to draw lots after they are inoculated to determine the prize that will be received.
