PAMPANGA TO STRICTLY ENFORCE E-SABONG BAN

Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda has ordered a ban on “e-sabong” or the online cockfighting operations in the province.

Pineda issued a memorandum directing local government unit (LGU) officials to strictly implement the ban.

“Online/e-sabong operations, unlicensed and illegal online cockfighting operations have victimized and corrupted some of our cabalens.”

“It has come to the attention of this office that despite the suspension by the national government of online/e-sabong operations, unlicensed and illegal online cockfighting operations are still being conducted by some unscrupulous individuals/groups and that the same has victimized and corrupted some of our cabalens,” the governor said in the memorandum.

He issued Executive Order No. 16-2022 in May 2022.

Pineda’s EO implemented the directive of former President Rodrigo Duterte to shut down all gaming websites and cease gaming operations.

Secretary Eduardo Año has recommended to Duterte stop e-sabong operations in May 2022.

According to Pineda, the local leaders should “bring to justice any and all person/s engaged in unlicensed and illegal online cockfighting operations so that they may be dealt with in accordance with the law”.
