Senator Kiko Pangilinan reaffirmed the Senate’s strong support for the Philippine Navy in safeguarding the country’s coastal waters and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) as the institution marks its 128th Founding Anniversary.
During his recent visit to the Kalayaan Island Group (KIG), Pangilinan expressed deep gratitude to naval forces and all uniformed personnel stationed in the area, recognizing their sacrifice and unwavering commitment to national sovereignty amid continued challenges in the West Philippine Sea.
“Nais ko rin kayong ma-reassure na buo ang suporta ng Senado sa inyong isinasagawang pagpoprotekta sa ating coastal waters at ang ating exclusive economic zone,” the veteran legislator said.
“Maraming maraming salamat sa inyong serbisyo, sa inyong paninindigan, sa inyong pagpoprotekta sa ating soberanya.”

The senator also extended his appreciation for the courage and dedication of the country’s uniformed services, emphasizing that their efforts remain vital in defending Philippine maritime territory.

“Salamat sa inyong sakripisyo, salamat sa inyong serbisyo. Salamat sa inyong katapangan at kabayanihan. Mabuhay ang Armed Forces of the Philippines,” he stressed.
Pangilinan earlier underscored the importance of strengthening national awareness and unity in addressing maritime challenges, calling for a whole-of-nation approach involving government institutions, civil society, the private sector, academia, and the media.
He also reiterated the need to support the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine Coast Guard to enhance the country’s capacity to patrol and defend its waters.
Pangilinan’s statement comes as the Philippine Navy celebrates its 128th Founding Anniversary, honoring its long-standing role in protecting the country’s maritime sovereignty and ensuring the security of the nation’s seas.
