PCSO HAILS PINOY ASIAN GAMES ATHLETES

Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office Chairman Junie E. Cua hailed the Philippine contingent to the 2023 Asian Games for their “heroic campaign,” which yielded the country’s strongest showing in nearly three decades.

“Congratulations to our athletes for their heroic campaign. Our country owes its gratitude to you for your proud efforts to carry our flag,” Cua said.

The agency contributes part of its proceeds to the Philippine Sports Commission for the country’s sports development program.

Team Philippines clinched four gold medals, two silvers and 12 bronzes, finishing 17th during the two-week continental tilt in Hangzhou, China.

This was the Philippines’ highest ranking since it placed 14th overall in 1994 in Hiroshima, Japan.

“Not only our medalists, but all 395 athletes who participated deserve all the accolades for a job well done,” Cua said.

“Marami silang hamon na kinailangan lagpasan para lumaban para sa bansa, ngunit hindi sila nagpatinag at buong-loob na sumugod para sa bayan at sa kanilang kababayan,” he added.

The Chairman also vowed that the PCSO would strive harder to raise more funds for sports.

The agency contributes part of its proceeds to the Philippine Sports Commission for the country’s sports development program.

Under Republic Act 6847, the PCSO is to remit the proceeds of six sweepstakes lottery draws per year.

“We are studying how we can raise more funds for the flourishing of sports in our country. Asahan po ninyo na we will do our best to improve on this regard,” Cua said.
