Stalwarts of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban) heaped praises upon their Party President, Senator Koko Pimentel III, for his “conspicuous act of sacrifice for the greater good of the Senate and the country.”
Pimentel nominated former Senate Majority Floor Leader and now Senate President Tito Sotto III as his successor, fulfilling his promise to step down before he prepares for his 2019 reelection bid.
“(Party) President Pimentel demonstrated the grace and statesmanship expected of the leader of the ruling Party by putting the interests of the nation and his institution ahead of personal concerns”, said Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, who is also the National Vice Chairman of PDP Laban.

Cusi welcomed the development, as it will allow Pimentel to focus on the ruling party’s 2019 election efforts, as well as its core advocacy of Federalism.
In addition, Cusi said, “As a trusted partner of President Duterte in the Senate, his increased participation in the Party’s day to day affairs will increase the zeal of Party members on the ground in furthering our goals.”
Cusi’s sentiments were echoed by PDP Laban officials from all over the country.
