PEACE PARTY-LIST HOLDS VAX, HERD IMMUNITY WEBINAR

As the COVID-19 Delta variant threatens to deepen the country’s pandemic woes, the Philippine Educators Alliance for Community Empowerment (PEACE) Party-list is set to hold a webinar on vaccination and herd immunity aimed at providing education stakeholders key updates on the rollout of the national vaccination program.

“RESBAKUNA: The Road to Herd Immunity” will be held on August 4, Wednesday, and will feature Health Undersecretary Dr. Maria Rosario Vergeire as guest speaker.

PEACE Party-list is pushing for the vaccination of around 39 million from the pediatric sector, emphasizing the crucial role of inoculation in the resumption of face-to-face classes.

The webinar is the fifth that the party-list has conducted so far on key issues surrounding the education sector.

“With the RESBAKUNA webinar, we hope to be able to provide educators with key information that would help shape their decisions for the present and immediate future,” PEACE Party-list President Marie Paz T. Abante said.

With COVID-19 cases once again on the rise and continued challenges in the implementation of distance learning, which is set to continue in the next school year, Abante said the webinar could be a good opportunity for educators to discuss their concerns.

The country posted 7,186 new cases on Tuesday, July 27, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 1,562,420.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier approved the opening of school year 2021-2022 on September 13.

PEACE Party-list is pushing for the vaccination of around 39 million from the pediatric sector, emphasizing the crucial role of inoculation in the resumption of face-to-face classes.

“The vaccination of children is a non-negotiable requirement that the government must address as soon as possible. Ang pagpapatuloy ng face-to-face classes ay mahalaga sa pagtugon natin sa lumalalang krisis sa edukasyon, pero dapat ligtas sa kapahamakan ang ating mga estudyante,” Abante said.
