PH BREACHES 1.8M FOREIGN VISITORS ARRIVAL MARK

Tackling the Philippine tourism’s trajectory towards recovery, its drivers and challenges it might face in the new economy of the post-pandemic era, Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco was BusinessWorld Insights online forum series’ featured speaker.

Speaking enthusiastically about the new unbridled demand for vacations and the surge for “revenge travel,” Frasco began her talk with some good news. 

The tourism chief announced that the Philippines has breached the 1.8 million mark with 1,875,967 foreign visitor arrivals as of May 2, 2023. 

“In 2022 the Philippines has bounced back quite strong in the tourism sector with 2.65 million in international arrivals,

Citing President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. administration’s vision for the Philippine tourism to be “a powerhouse in Asia and the world,” she shared that the Department of Tourism has laid this out as part of the country’s next tourism blueprint, the National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) 2023-2028, one that is anchored on Filipino culture, heritage, identity.” 

Frasco said, such vision is expected “to be driven by the government’s tourism plans focused on three key points: connectivity, convenience, and equality.”
