PH RED CROSS HELPS UNEMPLOYED CEBU PWDS – GORDON

Despite the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in several parts of the country, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) continues to be at the forefront in providing hope to the most vulnerable.

PRC volunteers and staff from the PRC Cebu Chapter sent out food packs to visually impaired individuals whose livelihoods were affected by the pandemic.

“Regardless of the current challenges that we are facing, the Red Cross will always be there.”

“Regardless of the current challenges that we are facing, the Red Cross will always be there. We stand to provide hope for the most vulnerable whom we serve without discrimination,” PRC Chair and CEO, Senator Dick Gordon said.

PRC Cebu Chapter Administrator Vera De Jesus, “Rosendo Lacaba, who has been in touch with the Senator for support since the early onset of the pandemic, called for help. In no time, the PRC Cebu Chapter provided food packs containing rice, sardines, luncheon meat, baked beans, Vienna sausage, and chicken liver. All in all, we gave food packs to 14 visually impaired individuals, and 15-day workers (no work, no pay – barber, driver, salon worker, laundry women).”

“This is a big help for my family because we have not worked for over five months now.”

This is a big help for my family because we have not worked for over five months now. I hope that you would also help others like me affected by this pandemic),” said Lacaba, the blind masseur who was one of the beneficiaries.

PRC Cebu Chapter will also be rolling out its food trucks to provide hot meals for health workers at Vicente Sotto Medical Center and MECQ-affected Poblacion Guadalupe in Cebu.
