PH RED CROSS OPENS SILAY CITY CHAPTER – GORDON

Despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) remains unstoppable as it continues to provide vital services to the community.

Senator Dick Gordon, PRC chairman and CEO, led the inauguration of the PRC’s new Negros Occidental-Bacolod City Chapter recently.

With Silay City as one of the component cities of Negros Occidental, the new PRC branch aims to cater more services to the most vulnerable in the community and to nearby municipalities particularly since the area is prone to flooding and typhoons.

“I’m extremely happy and proud for Negros Occidental Bacolod City Chapter in their performance as one of the outstanding chapters in the Visayas,” Gordon said.

“You are always willing to make a difference in the lives of the Filipino people.”

“The chapter exists for 56 years now because of the commitment and dedication of the staff and volunteers. These achievements were attained because of the strong partnerships within the province down to the local government and barangay level. I want to thank all of you for always willing to make a difference in the lives of the Filipino people,” the veteran legislator added.

The establishment started in March 2021 with the appointment of the branch interim council, the scouting of the branch office and the hiring of staff.

From the year 2021-2022, the branch plans to continue its construction and utilization of the acquired property, and the recruitment of its volunteers.

The establishment of the new PRC Silay City branch is a testimonial that the Philippine Red Cross will always be at the forefront of reaching out to protect the life and dignity especially of indigent Filipinos in vulnerable situations.
