PIMENTEL TO PNP: SOLVE SANTILLAN MURDER

PDP LABAN president and Senator Koko Pimentel III, lamented the seemingly slow probe into the death of an aide of election lawyer and former Biliran Rep. Atty. Glen Chong as he called on the PNP to solve the crime immediately.

“It’s about time that the PNP steps up its capability to investigate and solve crimes. Government must send the clear and strong message that crime does not pay, and wrongdoers will be speedily apprehended and prosecuted,” said Pimentel.

Chong’s bodyguard, Richard Red Santillan was killed in an alleged shootout on December 10, 2018.

The Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) conducted a forensic examination on Santillan’s body and found 11 gunshot and multiple puncture wounds in different parts of his body, prompting the PAO to conclude that Santillan was tortured and did not die in a legitimate shootout.

“It is tragic enough for any family to lose a member in such a violent way, but for the crime to go unpunished is the bigger tragedy and injustice. I call on the PNP to double time and solve Santillan’s murder. Long overdue na ito,” said Pimentel, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Electoral Reforms and People’s Participation.
