POLICEMEN JOIN BATASAN COMMUNITY PANTRY

Policemen assigned at the Batasan area in Quezon City joined a community pantry on Thursday.

The food distribution effort was organized by District 2 Councilor Winnie Castelo, his wife Rep. Precious Hipolito Castelo and Barangay Batasan Hills police officers.

It was a Quezon City resident, Ana Patricia Non, that started the idea of sharing food items to the poor in a community pantry in April amid the pandemic.

“It was a model for cooperation among the community, the police and local officials, especially during this pandemic,” Councilor Castelo said.

He said policemen could promote peace and order by joining such undertakings.

“They become familiar with the communities they are tasked to serve,” he said.

Castelo added that participation in activities like community pantries enhances the image of the police organization.

He thanked the new commander of Police Station 6 at the Batasan, Lt. Col. Alexi Sonido, and his men for joining Thursday’s food distribution.

He said he hoped they would join similar community activities in the future.
