POWER COOPS SUSTAIN P2.7M DAMAGE FROM DANTE — NEA

The cost of damage inflicted by Tropical Storm ‘Dante’ on the power distribution facilities was estimated at P2.715 million, reports submitted by the electric cooperatives (ECs) to the National Electrification Administration (NEA) showed. 

Among the affected ECs, the Masbate Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MASELCO) incurred the biggest amount of damage at P1.986 million, based on the monitoring of the NEA Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (DRRMD) as of Monday (June 7).

The NEA DRRMD report also showed that electricity services of the ECs in the provinces impacted by Tropical Storm ‘Dante’ have already returned to normal as the power utilities completed the restoration of distribution lines as of Monday.

The Leyte V Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LEYECO V) posted P576,533 worth of damage, while the Tablas Island Electric Cooperative, Inc. (TIELCO) sustained P77,549 in damage.

The Marinduque Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MARELCO), on the other hand, reported P53,037-worth of damage to its power facilities; and the Romblon Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ROMELCO) incurred a damage worth P21,800.

The NEA DRRMD report also showed that electricity services of the ECs in the provinces impacted by Tropical Storm ‘Dante’ have already returned to normal as the power utilities completed the restoration of distribution lines as of Monday.

These include ECs operating in parts of Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bataan, Batangas, Marinduque, Romblon, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Masbate, Western Samar, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Biliran and Leyte.
