POWER OUTAGES IN SEVERAL PROVINCES DUE TO TS DANTE

Several provinces under the coverage areas of six electric cooperatives (ECs) have experienced power interruptions due to Tropical Storm Dante.

These provinces are Marinduque, Romblon, Masbate, Eastern Samar and Biliran based on the monitoring of the NEA through its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (DRRMD) as of Wednesday, June 02.

The electric co-ops were also advised to activate their respective Emergency Response Organization when the need arises to implement without delay the appropriate emergency response plans.

In Marinduque, the Marinduque Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MARELCO) reported power is fully restored in the municipalities of Boac and Mogpog, while restoration is ongoing in Buenavista, Gasan, Santa Cruz, and Torrijos.

In Romblon, power is fully restored in the municipalities of Cajidiocan, Magdiwang, San Fernando, and Corcuera; and partially restored in the towns of Romblon, Banton, and Concepcion under the franchise area of Romblon Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ROMELCO).

Under the coverage area of the Tablas Island Electric Cooperative, Inc. (TIELCO), electricity is partially restored in Alcantara, Calatrava, Odiongan, San Agustin, and Santa Maria; while Ferrol, Looc, and Sta. Fe are for restoration.   

In Masbate, the Masbate Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MASELCO) reported efforts are ongoing to restore power in Cataingan, Placer, Pio V. Corpus, Palanas, Esperanza, and Dimasalang.

In the province of Eastern Samar, electricity is restored in all areas, except the Municipality of General MacArthur, under the coverage area of the Eastern Samar Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ESAMELCO) as of Thursday, June 03, according to DRRMD.

The NEA DRRMD earlier directed the 121 ECs to take the appropriate contingency measures to minimize the potential impact of the weather disturbance on their power distribution facilities.

The Biliran Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BILECO), on the other hand, has fully restored power in Biliran, Cabucgayan, and Caibiran; while Almeria, Culaba, Kawayan, and Naval are partially restored.
