POWER RESTORATION IN EASTERN, NORTHERN SAMAR ALMOST COMPLETE — NEA

Electric cooperatives (ECs) in Eastern and Northern Samar have nearly completed the restoration of power to thousands of households in the provinces that experienced outages due to Typhoon ‘Ambo’ last month. 

This was based on the report received by the National Electrification Administration (NEA) through the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (DRRMD) as of Thursday, June 25.   

About 182 households are still undergoing restoration.

The Northern Samar Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NORSAMELCO) reported that it is closing in on completing the re-establishment of electric service to its consumers. 

NORSAMELCO has been able to fully restore power to 99.82 percent of the affected households within its coverage area as of Thursday. 

About 182 households are still undergoing restoration, while 164 consumer connections cannot be restored due to damaged homes, according to NORSAMELCO. 

The Eastern Samar Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ESAMELCO), on the other hand, reported that 96.45 percent of households were fully restored as of Thursday.

As of June 25, NORSAMELCO estimated the initial amount of damage due to typhoon at P91.684 million while ESAMELCO at P55.865 million. 

ESAMELCO and NORSAMELCO were assisted in restoration efforts by the ‘power restoration rapid deployment’ task force kapatid composed of electric cooperatives from Leyte, Southern Leyte, Samar, and Biliran Island.
