The Philippine Red Cross reaffirmed its long-standing partnership with the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA as the university hosts its 50th Founding Anniversary bloodletting activity at the UPHSD Las Piñas Campus.
Titled “Bloodletting: Dugo Ko, Buhay Mo – Part 15: Golden Legacies, Golden Lifelines,” the activity forms part of the university’s milestone anniversary celebration.
The event was attended by PRC Chairman & CEO Dick Gordon, together with key university officials, including Dr. Anthony Jose Tamayo, President; Dr. Arnaldo De Guzman, School Director; and Dr. Marjorie Gutierrez-Tangog, Executive Vice President.
The partnership began in 2011 and has grown into a sustained program that has produced a total of 5,114 blood units over more than a decade of collaboration.
The partnership was formally strengthened through a Memorandum of Agreement in 2016 and further expanded in 2024 to include blood donation programs, Red Cross 143, Red Cross Youth, and training initiatives.
UPHSD also actively supports the PRC RH Negative Registry through mass blood typing of foreign students.
Speaking before students and stakeholders, Gordon emphasized the role of the youth in shaping the future of the nation.
“Aim high.”
“After 50 years, you are the future of this country. Eventually, what this school is—and what it will become—is because of you. So aim high,” he said.
Gordon also underscored the value of volunteerism through blood donation and service.
“Being extraordinary is doing something ordinary every day in an extraordinary way.”
“Do not be spectators—be extraordinary. Being extraordinary is doing something ordinary every day in an extraordinary way,” he stressed.
Tamayo echoed the institution’s commitment to growth and global competitiveness, highlighting the university’s expanding vision and international direction.
“We congratulate the university for continuing to expand its ambition and move toward internationalization,” Gordon noted in support of this direction.
The Philippine Red Cross expressed its gratitude to UPHSD for more than a decade of partnership, calling it a model of sustained collaboration in advancing voluntary blood donation and community service.
