PREPARATIONS FOR 1ST METRO MANILA SUMMER FILM FESTIVAL IN FULL SWING – LIM

Preparations for the first-ever Metro Manila Summer Film Festival have begun with an ocular inspection of the proposed route for the Parade of Stars.

The Parade of Stars for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Summer edition will take place at Quezon City on April 5, Palm Sunday, as announced during a meeting presided by MMFF Executive Director Atty. Rochelle Ona.

The parade will start from the Welcome Rotonda-Quezon Avenue and ends at the Quezon Memorial Circle.

The Parade Committee, chaired by Michael Salalima, Chief of Staff of the Office of the General Manager and Vice Chair Neomie Recio, also inspected the parade grounds with Tetta Tirona, Quezon City Tourism Head; and Dexter Cerdenas, Traffic Head; and other representatives from the local government.

As discussed, the parade shall cover a distance of 6.2-kilometers and is expected to take a minimum 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Just like the regular MMFF during Christmas, the Parade of Stars is one of the highlights of the MMSFF that will showcase the floats carrying celebrities of the film festival’s official entries.

The MMSFF will officially open on April 11, Black Saturday, where eight-full length films will be shown.

According to cinema exhibitors, historically, Black Saturday or Sabado de Gloria is the second highest grossing playdate next to Christmas.

The holding of the first MMSFF was proposed by Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, a member of the MMFF Executive Committee, to encourage the film industry to create more quality films.
