PSA OUTLET TO OPEN IN CATARMAN, NORTHERN SAMAR

Residents of Northern Samar no longer need to travel to Catbalogan City or Tacloban City to obtain copies of their civil registry documents.

The Philippine Statistics Authority – Eastern Visayas is opening a Civil Registration Services (CRS) outlet in Catarman, Northern Samar to cater to the needs of the local population.

This achievement is the result of Governor Edwin Ongchuan’s personal request to Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa, the National Statistician and Civil Registrar General of PSA, and PSA Eastern Visayas Regional Director Wilma Perante during their luncheon meeting at the Governor’s Residence on April 2023.

“One of the significant benefits is the prompt printing of birth certificates, among other services.”

“The goal is to establish a CRS outlet in the province, eliminating the need for residents to travel to nearby provinces for PSA services. One of the significant benefits is the prompt printing of birth certificates, among other services,” Ongchuan stressed.

The Civil Registration System is a project aimed at enhancing public service delivery. It expedites the processing of requests, reduces waiting times at application and payment counters, and improves facilities, ultimately improving convenience for the public.

In less than seven months after reaching the agreement, the Philippine Statistics Authority fulfilled its promise to the governor by successfully establishing a CRS outlet in the province.

Ongchuan expressed his gratitude to Mapa, Perante, and Provincial Statistician Julian Gallano for their prompt response and assistance.

“We extend our sincere appreciation to Undersecretary Mapa, Regional Director Perante, and Provincial Statistician Gallano for facilitating our request.”

“We extend our sincere appreciation to Undersecretary Mapa, Regional Director Perante, and Provincial Statistician Gallano for facilitating our request. This CRS outlet will not only benefit the people of Northern Samar but also our neighboring provinces,” he stressed.

The CRS outlet in Catarman becomes the third one on Samar Island after the CRS Catbalogan City and Borongan City sub-offices.

This development further enhances access to vital civil registry documents for the local population. The most common documents issued by the CRS include birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, and certificates of no marriage (CENOMAR).

PSA Northern Samar has announced that the soft opening of the CRS outlet will take place on October 25, 2023.
