RED CROSS, SMC HOLD BLOOD DONATION DRIVE – GORDON

Philippine Red Cross Chairman and CEO Senator Dick Gordon, together with San Miguel Corporation (SMC) President and COO Ramon Ang, led the blood and convalescent plasma donation drive among SMC employees in the country recently with SMC responding to the continuous need for blood and the treatment of patients with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“Napakalaking bagay itong ginagawa ng SMC sa pagbangon natin sa COVID-19. This is a super humanitarian effort of blood donation to the PRC for our people. San Miguel Corporation, led by Mr. Ramon Ang, has gone above and beyond in many ways,” Gordon stated during the virtual launch of the event.

“Mayroon silang kusang-loob, malasakit, at kapwa-tao. They took the initiative to partner with the Philippine Red Cross for a nationwide blood donation drive,” the veteran legislator added.

“I encourage my employees to donate blood to the PRC in order to help those who are in need especially in this time of pandemic.”

Ang, on the other hand, said that he encouraged his employees to donate blood to the PRC in order to help those who are in need especially in this time of pandemic.

“Sobrang dami ng taong nahihirapan and yet, walang masyadong taong lumalabas para tumulong. Mabuti na lang, ang mahal nating kapatid na si Dick Gordon ay all out ang suporta sa ating mga kababayan. Sana po, kaming lahat ay mabigyan mo ng pagkakataon na tumulong sa iyo at sumuporta sa iyo. I hope you can help more Filipinos especially during this COVID crisis,” he said.

SMC, which is marking its 130th anniversary, is the first private company in the country to partner with the PRC through blood and convalescent plasma donation. The event was launched simultaneously via ZOOM in six different SMC facilities around the country.

Among these are the SMC Head Office Complex in Mandaluyong City; Purefoods Hormel Plant in General Trias, Cavite; the Manila Toll Expressway Systems, Inc. facility in Silangan Laguna; and San Miguel Brewery’s community clinics in San Fernando, Pampanga, Mandaue, Cebu, and Sta. Cruz, Davao Del Sur.

“If we can do this, we will remain a safe country in terms of blood supply.”

“Inaanyayahan nating ang lahat ng kompanya na tumulad sa SMC, upang tuluy-tuloy and supply ng dugo. If we can do this, we will remain a safe country in terms of blood supply. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank and congratulate you, the participating San Miguel Corporation branches throughout the country, for helping the most vulnerable,” the seasoned lawmaker stressed.
