SARANGANI TOWN MARKS FEST WITH ‘KASALAN NG BAYAN’

A total of 230 couples exchanged marriage vows during the Kasalan ng Bayan in Kiamba, Sarangani.


Mayor George Falgui officiated the ceremony held at the municipal kiosk in celebration of the town’s 20th Timpuyog Festival.

“Always respect each other.”



In his message, Falgui encouraged the couples to “always respect each other.”

The mayor also emphasized that marriage is a “lifetime commitment” and that God should be the center of the relationship.

For the newlyweds, the municipal government of Kiamba provided free cakes for all couples, free wines and free lunch.

A framed portrait of the couple was sponsored by the office of Vice Governor Elmer De Peralta.

Other municipalities of Malapatan, Glan, Alabel, and Maasim also held their local Kasalan ng Bayan before their local chief executives.

In Malapatan, a total of 62 pairs tied the knot and received from the office of Mayor Salway Jumbo Jr. P5,000 cash, a token, a cake, and a framed portrait.

Glan will also had its Kasalan ng Bayan during Valentine’s Day at the Enrique Yap Sr. Cultural Gymnasium. 21 couples received free lunch, some groceries, as well as a framed portrait from the government. Mayor Victor James Yap Sr. officiated the ceremonies.

In Alabel, 85 pairs tied the knot, free of charge, as Mayor Vic Paul Salarda led the wedding ceremony. The mayor also gave wedding gifts to the couples.

Maasim Mayor Zyrex Pacquiao also officiated the wedding of 125 Maasimian couples free of charge and provided tokens, cakes, and bags of rice.

Malungon had the same ceremony a day after Valentine’s Day at the Municipal Sunken Arena where 100 couples received cash, rice and groceries, wedding rings, and framed portraits. Mayor Atty. Maria Theresa Constantino officiated the ceremonies.

In Sarangani, most of the municipalities conduct their respective Kasalan ng Bayan every February in celebration of the love month.

This is the local government’s initiative to provide services to couples who wish to officially tie the knot.
