SORSOGON GOV’T DONATES P2.5M TO MAYON EVACUEES

The Provincial Government of Sorsogon (PGS) answered Albay’s disaster call for help by donating P2.5 million to help sustain the basic needs of evacuees displaced by on-going Mayon volcano eruption.

Albay Governor Grex Lagman thanked Sorsogon Governor Buboy Hamor for the latter’s gratefulness in extending his hands to its neighboring province.

The check demonstrates the strength of regional cooperation during times of crisis.

In the wake of the devastating Mayon Volcano eruption, Provincial Administrator Eric Ravanilla together with esteemed provincial government department heads presented to Lagman the check, aimed at aiding in the relief and rehabilitation efforts of the affected communities, demonstrating the strength of regional cooperation during times of crisis.

“Sorsogon is the first neighboring province to give the monetary donation as Albay is also under a state of calamity due to the Mayon eruption,” the governor said.

He asked Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Vivien Cea to program the financial assistance from Sorsogon to buy provisions to sustain the needs of thousands of evacuees currently staying at temporary shelters.
