STAY SAFE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON – BONG GO

In spite of the challenges brought by the pandemic and other crisis situations, Senator Bong Go remains dedicated to spreading the holiday cheer to the most disadvantaged as he had his team provide assistance to indigents in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental.

Go told the crowd in his video message.

The legislator then reminded the public to remain disciplined and cooperative with the government’s basic health protocols to safeguard themselves, their families and communities from the threats of the virus, especially this holiday season.

The senator’s outreach team distributed shirts, masks, and snacks to 250 vulnerable residents at Brgy. Nazareth gymnasium.

They also gave away a bicycle, cellular phone, pair of shoes, and several umbrellas and balls for basketball and volleyball to select individuals.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development also provided financial assistance to help the residents sustain their daily needs.

As chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, he offered additional aid to those with health concerns as he advised them to visit the nearby Malasakit Centers at Northern Mindanao Medical Center and J.R. Borja General Hospital in the city.

Ito ang PhilHealth, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Department of Health at DSWD na handang tumulong sa inyong lahat,” explained Go, who is the principal author and sponsor of the Act.

Additionally, he supported the construction of Super Health Centers in Barangays Balubal and San Simon in Cagayan de Oro City, as well as in the towns of Binuangan and Libertad.

These centers will offer basic services such as out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray, ultrasound), pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical unit. Other available services are eye, ear, nose and throat (EENT) service; oncology centers; physical therapy and rehabilitation center; and telemedicine, where remote diagnosis and treatment of patients will be done.

To help create more economic opportunities in the city, Go, who also serves as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, supported the construction of drainage system and flood control structures along Iponan River, acquisition of several ambulance units and fire and dump trucks, and the construction of a three-story multipurpose building in Barangay 33.

Other projects he supported include the flood control projects in Magsaysay, Medina and Gingoog City; the construction of multipurpose buildings in Initao, Magsaysay and Gingoog City; rehabilitation of local roads in Baliangao, Balingasag, Balingoan, Initao, Lagonglong, Laguindingan, Libertad, Lugait, Magsaysay, Manticao and El Salvador City; and construction of water systems in Balingasag and Jasaan.

Fire victims in Medina were also assisted by Go’s team last December 21.
