TF YOLANDA, NHA TURN OVER 1,993 HOUSES IN ILOILO

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles led the online turnover of free housing units to beneficiaries in Dumangas, Iloilo last November 27, 2020 in coordination with the Task Force Yolanda, the National Housing Authority and local government leaders.

Nograles heads the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Unified Implementation and Monitoring of Rehabilitation and Recovery Projects and Programs in Yolanda-affected Areas.

The close coordination and cooperation of stakeholders since August ensured the smooth and successful turn-over of free housing units, considering the twin concerns of ongoing weather disturbances and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 17th virtual turnover of 1,993 housing units of the Yolanda Permanent Housing Project was made in the following areas: PDMN People’s Village 1 Site 3 (523 units), PDMN  People’s Village 2 Site 4 (500 units) and Dumangas People’s Village 2 (970 units).

Nograles expressed gratitude to the regional office of the NHA, saying “we’re very thankful to the leadership of General Manager Marcelino Escalada, Regional Manager Engr. Antonio Del Rosario and District Manager Fe Jamoyot who all provided the direction which our local government leaders followed to complete this project.”

The Malacañang official added that the close coordination and cooperation of stakeholders since August ensured the smooth and successful turn-over of free housing units, considering the twin concerns of ongoing weather disturbances and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We will finish all pending Yolanda-related constructions because that was the clear directive of the President. The people of Dumangas and other areas in the region were given priority in this effort.”

According to the NHA, as of October 2020, out of the planned 123,535 housing units for Region 6, 89,491 have already been completed, with the remaining 22,869 units undergoing construction.

LGU officials led by Mayor Ronaldo Golez, for their part, were profuse in their appreciation to the assistance of the Duterte administration.

“This gift of housing is a blessing we will forever cherish. Our pleas for assistance were met and heard by the President, Cab Sec Nograles and the NHA,” Mayor Golez said.

Nograles ended by stating “we will finish all pending Yolanda-related constructions because that was the clear directive of the President. The people of Dumangas and other areas in the region were given priority in this effort. Our small expectation is for the beneficiaries to do their part in enriching their lives and building stronger families and communities around these free housing units. That way, the government’s aid efforts become more meaningful.”
