BULACAN FARMERS GET AID TO FIGHT ASF

In an effort to prevent an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) in Bulacan, Bulakenyo pig farmers received disinfectants and nets during the “BABay ASF: Farm Biosecurity Assistance Program” and “Turn-Over Ceremony of Donations from Rotary Club of ChangHwa Central (Rotary International District 3462 Taiwan) in Collaboration with the Rotary Club of Malolos” led by the Provincial Veterinary Office yesterday at Balagtas Hall in Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in the Cier. 

The Rotary Club Malolos together with its international partner Rotary Club of ChangHwa Central-Taiwan donated a total of 1,500 containers (20 liters per container) of Anolyte Advanced Disinfectant to the backyard pig farmers to prevent another ASF outbreak in the province while ASF vaccine is currently not available.

Also, the Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Training Institution donated 1 Liter of disinfectant and 25 meters of nets each for the Swine Sentinel Program batch 3 recipients from Districts 1 and 6 in order to establish the best biosecurity and animal husbandry practices through upgraded biosecurity measure using farm nets and disinfectants.

“Biosecurity will play an important role in maintaining an ASF-free status through strict biosecurity compliance.”

In his message, Governor Daniel Fernando mentioned how Biosecurity will play an important role in maintaining an ASF-free status through strict biosecurity compliance. 

Fernando also commended the Rotary Club of ChangHwa Central-Taiwan delegates for their compassion and goodwill towards the backyard pig farmers of Bulacan.

“At last, matatapos na po ‘yung problema natin sa African Swine Flu. Thank you for your generosity. On behalf of the people of Bulacan, we thank you for extending great support to our Biosecurity program, your heartfelt donations reflect your commitment to the values of the Rotary Club; to promote integrity, goodwill and peace across the globe,” the governor said.

The turnover ceremony of donations was attended by Vice Governor Alexis Castro, Board Member Romina Fermin, Chief of Staff Atty. Jayric Amil, Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Voltaire Basinang, Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center III Center Director Dr. Joey Belarmino, Inter-country Committee Philippines Deputy Coordinator Yu-Ting Cheng, Rotary Club ChangHwa Central President Wen Yu Hung, Rotary Club Malolos President Danny Agustin, Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 3 Regional Executive Director Crispulo Bautista, other Rotary Club ChangHwa Central officers and Rotary Club Malolos members.
