DPWH STARTS WORK ON AMULUNG, CAGAYAN MARKET

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is building a new public market that is expected to promote the local agricultural produce and native delicacies in the town Amulung, Cagayan.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, DPWH Cagayan 3rd District Engineering Office District Engineer Mariano Malupeng said that an amount of P9.8 million was allocated this 2023 for the Phase 1 of the public market building with a total floor area of 31.5 meters by 14.2 meters in Barangay Annafatan.

“The new public market is expected to create opportunities for local businesses to thrive and contribute to the overall economic vitality of the town.”

“Once completed, the new public market is expected to create opportunities for local businesses to thrive and contribute to the overall economic vitality of the town, benefiting farmers, market vendors, and small business owners in the area,” Malupeng explained.

The facility will also increase access to locally-grown foods, as well as highlight the unique local culture of Amulung.

“The establishment of a modern public market underscores the government’s commitment to supporting local businesses and fostering economic progress,” he concluded.
