CEBU RECEIVES P1B PH RED CROSS ASSISTANCE

Philippine Red Cross Chairman and CEO Dick Gordon said that the humanitarian organization has distributed P1 billion in emergency and recovery assistance alone to Cebu.

Speaking at a press conference during a visit in Cebu recently, Gordon, who has been at the helm of PRC’s operations for two decades, said: “Importante ang mga Cebuano sa PRC, ug kanako. Ang tabang sa PRC nagpakita sa atong bug-os nga suporta sa pagbangon sa atong mga katagilungsod nga naapektuhan sa nagkadaiyang katalagman [Cebuanos are important to PRC, and to me. The assistance that PRC continues to extend to Cebu only shows our commitment to help the families affected by disasters].”

He said that the assistance reflects PRC’s commitment to Cebu.

PRC has built 8,741 houses; repaired 1,263 houses; provided livelihood to 8,854 families; and released cash grants to 12,517 families.

During his visit, Gordon met with PRC-Cebu Chapter’s and PRC-Lapu-Lapu/Cordova Chapter’s Boards, officers, staff, and volunteers.

Former Cebu City Mayor Tommy Osmeña and his wife, former City Councilor Margot Osmeña, were also there to see Gordon.
