DOT EYES MORE PARTNERSHIPS WITH PRIVATE SECTOR

In sustaining a whole-of-nation approach to tourism development, Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco and officials of the Department of Tourism (DOT) met with the members of the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) – Tourism Sector to discuss possible areas where the private sector can further offer its support to the Department in fulfillment of its objectives, and to assist in the various projects and concerns involving its attached agencies, including the Intramuros Administration (IA) and the Tourism Infrastructure Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA).

“We welcome the Private Sector Advisory Council and we look forward to our discussion today, in hopes that we will be able to give you updates on the matters that will be presented before the President, as well as to further explore how we can work together to align with your suggestions on the Department as well as its attached agencies,” Secretary Frasco said at the beginning of the discussion.

On behalf of the PSAC, Atty. Jauro Castro expressed the council’s gratitude to the DOT and to the tourism chief for leading initiatives that allowed the tourism industry to reach notable milestones and improvements to the tourism journey in a course of a year, as he extended the council’s hand of collaboration and support to the Department.

“There have been a lot of changes and improvements already, from holiday economics, e-travel, e-visa, and all these, a lot of it has actually been spearheaded by the DOT, and I know there will be more to come.”

Among the attendees from the PSAC are its Deputy Lead Secretariat DJ Sta. Ana, and members including Cedric dela Cruz, Josephine Gotinanun, Francis Gotianun, Atty. Felipe Carlos Remollo, Diane Bulawit.
