DPWH COMPLETES 17 MORE QUARANTINE FACILITIES IN EASTERN VISAYAS – VILLAR

The Department of Public Works and Highways has completed the conversion and construction of 17 additional quarantine facilities that augmented Eastern Visayas’ coronavirus disease (COVID-19) bed capacity by 800.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, citing DPWH Regional Office 8 Director Nerie Bueno, announced that two facilities were completed on September, 10 in August, five in July, and one more is underway and is targeted to be completed before the end of this month.

“One more facility located in the town of Dagami, Leyte is on-going and is targeted to be finished this month.”

Projects completed include COVID-19 facilities located at Barangays Salvacion, Abucay, and Cabalawan in Tacloban City; Sacred Heart Seminary in Barangay Salvacion, Palo, Leyte; and Barangay Trinidad, Calbayog City.

Facilities were also constructed at Samar Provincial Hospital at Barangay Guindapunan in Catbalogan City; Barangay Songco, Borongan City, Eastern Samar; Northern Samar Provincial Hospital in Catarman Northern Samar; Barangays Macabug and Dolores in Ormoc City; and Barangays Agpangi and Larrazabal in Naval, Biliran.

DPWH Regional Office 8 is also in close coordination with local government units and the Department of Health.

“One more facility located in the town of Dagami, Leyte is on-going and is targeted to be finished this month. DPWH Regional Office 8 is also in close coordination with local government units and the Department of Health (DOH) to ensure enough number of hospital bed facilities in the region which has a total of 1,057 active cases as of September 10, 2020,” Villar said.
