DPWH MARKS 123rd FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) celebrated its 123rd Founding Anniversary with the theme “DPWH @ 123: Matatag na Imprastruktura, Laban sa Pandemya,” helping the country triumph over the health crisis.

“For the second year since COVID-19 pandemic hit, we are celebrating sans fanfare programs, as we dedicate this day to honor the men and women frontliners who continue to save and serve our kababayans,” DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said.

This year’s DPWH virtual anniversary program included a thanksgiving mass, awarding ceremony for loyalty awardees and compulsory retirees, and audio-video presentation of the Department’s accomplishments.

When the COVID-19 struck the country off guard, DPWH had been at the forefront of saving lives by addressing the dearth in healthcare facilities by putting up modular hospitals, isolation/quarantine facilities, and offsite dormitories for healthcare workers.

Villar lauded the sense of camaraderie exemplified by the DPWH workers, to the extent of risking their lives in delivering service to the Filipinos.

“Now that we are gradually recuperating, DPWH is still at the forefront of recovery.”
