Senator Ping Lacson welcomed the breakthrough victory of Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala in the opening round of the prestigious Wimbledon Championships.
Lacson wished Eala continued success as he noted her impressive win is a refreshing break from the “unpleasant atmosphere” surrounding the “protest” rally along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) in Quezon City.
“Congratulations and good luck!”
“Watching Alex Eala’s easy win in her first round of the prestigious Wimbledon Championships is a welcome departure from the unpleasant atmosphere in EDSA. Congratulations and good luck!” the veteran legislator said on X.
Eala, 21, earned her maiden main-draw victory at the grass-court Grand Slam tournament early Wednesday (Manila time), prevailing over Renata Zarazua of Mexico in straight sets.
She advances to the next round where she will face the Maya Joint, 20, who beat Serena Williams.
