Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso urged Manilenyos to stay focused amid political noise, telling city government workers that their job is to deliver services—not to get distracted by politics.
Domagoso said he signed the release order of P350-million for the mid-year bonus of more than 8,000 city government workers.
“Last Thursday, I signed the release of almost 350 million for your mid-year bonus,” the mayor said during the flag-raising ceremony at Manila City Hall.
“Mamayang alas-dose nang tanghali, pwede niyo na tirahin. I-check niyo na. Sa inyo na ‘yan, ingatan niyo ‘yan,” he said.
“Eyes on the ball, doon lang tayo.”
Addressing both city government workers and residents, the mayor said: “Eyes on the ball, doon lang tayo,” adding that the disagreements among national leaders should not distract Manilenyos from their daily lives and obligations.
Domagoso noted that the release had been scheduled for the previous week but was held back due to civil service rules prohibiting payouts before the 15th of the month.
“You deserve it, but you have to save it.”
He also urged employees to be prudent with the money, saying: “You deserve it, but you have to save it. Save some for the rainy days.”
Domagoso also used the occasion to reassure city workers that their compensation would be released without them having to ask for it.
“What is due to you will be given to you. You don’t need to ask for it,” he concluded.
