MANILA NORTH ROAD SECTION IN ILOCOS SUR UPGRADED

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the improvement of a portion of the Manila North Road (MNR) in Santa, Ilocos Sur.

DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Regional Office Director Ronnel Tan, said that a total of P39.2 Million was allocated for the road upgrade, specifically in Barangay Magsaysay, where motorists may pass along a scenic coastline.

“The enhanced roadway facilitates smoother travel, and faster delivery of goods and services, attracting more tourists and boosting the local economy.”

“Completed in August 2023, the enhanced roadway implemented by DPWH Ilocos Sur 2nd District Engineering Office facilitates smoother travel, and faster delivery of goods and services, attracting more tourists and boosting the local economy,” Tan explained.

The completed project includes the construction of a 470-lineal meter concrete retaining wall with stone masonry along the mountainside to prevent landslides and a reinforced concrete-covered canal with a paved road shoulder.

The DPWH Ilocos Sur 2nd DEO has also installed solar lights to enhance the safety and visibility of all road users.
