MMDA TO LAUNCH UNIFIED DISASTER RESPONSE PLATFORM

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) signed a memorandum of understanding with Estecheng Company Ltd. to establish a “Customized Multi-Hazard Decision Support Platform for Metro Manila, based on the PAGASA Climate Model and Converged AI.”

MMDA Chairman Atty. Don Artes and Jung Hwan Choi, Estecheng Co. Ltd CEO, led the ceremonial signing for the project aimed to enhance public safety and establish a sustainable disaster response system in disaster-vulnerable areas in accordance with the development cooperation objectives of the KOICA IBS Grant project.

“I look forward to the successful implementation of the project.”

Artes expressed his gratitude to Estecheng Company and stated that he looks forward to the successful implementation of the project, citing “a unified platform would pave the way for more effective, real-time monitoring and holistic decision-making for Metro Manila”.

The initiative is focused on three core pillars:

  • Cooperation in establishing an integrated disaster response platform for MMDA.
  • Data integration and linkage with existing sensors and systems owned by MMDA.
  • Development of an integrated management system for multi-hazard data, including earthquakes, weather, and water levels.

MMDA Deputy Chairman Frisco San Juan Jr., Assistant General Manager (AGM) for Operations Assistant Secretary David Angelo Vargas, MDPS Dir. Shiela Quingco, FCSMO Director Mark Navarro, MPCG Director Francis Martinez, TDO for Enforcement Director Atty. Victor Nuñez, LLAS Director Atty. Marcos Arcadio Lauron, and MISS OIC Anna Liza Dela Cruz participated in the event.
