In a recent piece, Caesar Vallejos questioned the propriety and legality of opening the bank accounts of the Vice President and her husband in relation to the ongoing Senate impeachment trial. He argued that the Bank Secrecy Law has been used by the current administration as a tool against its detractors, worrying that even private citizens such as businesspeople can become targets of unlawful access to bank records.

The delicate balancing act faced by BBM may unravel his entire administration, according to Tumanan.
