NET25’S BUSINESS NEWS PUTS HOUSEHOLD FINANCES FIRST, FROM HOUSING LOANS TO POWER BILLS

Emerging media and news powerhouse NET25 has taken a novel and different approach to its treatment of business news.

Instead of targeting captains of industry, boardrooms and trading floors, the network caters to business information that matters to Pinoy households, with focus on the housing loan, the electric bill and the gas pump.

This innovative trajectory uses as its anchor the award-winning short-format program “Open for Business” hosted by NET25 President Caesar R. Vallejos. The show was honored at Asia’s Business Circle Awards 2025 and more recently by the Philippine Television and Cinema Icons 2026.

Vallejos has described “Open for Business” as a “one stop shop” for businesses and ordinary citizens alike, from the price of daily commodities and gasoline to balance of payments and MSME trends.

The past two weeks on the NET25.com portal reveal what that looks like in practice.

On housing, for instance, NET25 reported the Pag-IBIG Fund and SMDC partnership under the Expanded 4PH program: loans of up to ten million pesos per qualified member, at promotional rates of 4.5 percent up to Php 4.9 million and 5.75 percent above that through year-end.

It was the latest in a run of Pag-IBIG stories on the portal, after tie-ups with Avida and Amaia and with Naga City, and the Fund’s housing assets topping one trillion pesos.

On power bills, NET25.com carried the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s removal of VAT from the systems loss charge, with the BIR saying bills may go down once the rule takes effect.

The site’s opinion side had put that charge under scrutiny since July 2026, when Weng Dela Fuente (“Datos Online”) showed in “Systems Loss” how it eats five to ten percent of a household’s bill and doubted that politicians would act.

On fuel, the international desk tracked the strikes on Saudi Arabia and on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, with Brent crude climbing to $107.51 a barrel on September 14. Such drastic movement will have a ripple effect at gas stations nationwide.

The coverage reaches the creative economy, as well. Puregold’s new Teatro Panalo festival drew 373 entries in its first call, with twelve works to be staged and Php 100,000 for each selected playwright, while the CinePanalo Film Festival opens September 23 with Joross Gamboa’s “Wantawsan” among seven entries.

Lighter items round out the mix, from a massage-chair trade-in to the new Starbucks at the Philippine Arena Complex for NLEX travelers and concert-goers.

Through these news choices, NET25 makes a conscious effort to report business as kabuhayan, with the Filipino family, worker and small entrepreneur, not the analyst, in mind.

“Open for Business” is free to view anytime, anywhere on YouTube, TikTok at @net25tv and its own Facebook page, and the network’s business stories are a click away on the NET25.com portal.

Housing loans. Power bills. Gas prices. NET25 continues to affirm its role as the “alternative mainstream” in Philippine broadcasting through business coverage that is conscious about the reader and viewer base it serves, translating the complicated language of markets and boardrooms into the everyday concerns of Filipino households.
