House Appropriations Committee Chair and Davao 1st District Rep. Karlo Nograles joined the chorus of cheers for “fellow probinsyano” Sen. Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, who knocked out Argentine Lucas Matthysse in the seventh round of their bout, Pacquiao’s 69th fight, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Nograles said he was proud of fellow Mindanao native Pacquiao––who turns 40 this year––for defying the odds and displaying the heart and grit that have earned him the admiration of his country and the world.
“We are so proud of Sen. Manny Pacquiao for again bringing honor to the Philippines! While some were doubting his ability to win, and others were even nudging him to retire, this People’s Champ just refused to give up,” said Nograles.
“No one can put a good man down, and no one can doubt that Pacman has the heart of a true champion!”
The legislator likewise called Pacquiao’s knockout win an inspiration to Filipinos everywhere, especially probinsyanos like the fighter born in the town of Kibawe, Bukidnon in Mindanao.
