PUP COMMUNICATION SOCIETY LAUNCHED A DIGITAL ARTWORK COMPETITION, WEBINAR AND WORKSHOP

The PUP Communication Society, a premier academic and mother organization of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines College of Communication (PUP COC), successfully conducted an event entitled, CommuniCREATION: Exploring the Vivid World of Digital Arts.

This month of June is a time to explore the world of imagination. To try different styles, create and give life to marvelous ideas, and learn new techniques from talented artists. The organization prepared an event with the theme, “Digital ARTvocacy: Turn your Imagination into Digital Illustration.”

In the first part of the event, the organization showcased five digital artworks from different programs of College of Communication. The Eye of the Future of Mr. John Martin Hipolito from BABROUMNL (Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting Open University Manila), Exploration through the Different Doorways of Realities of Ms. Ezekhyna Naval from BACR (Bachelor of Arts in Communication Research), Queen of Hearts of Turon (Pen Name) from BACR (Bachelor of Arts in Communication Research), Nene of Mr. Carl Joshua Bunuan from BAPR (Bachelor of Advertising and Public Relations), and Noong si Juan ay nagtanim sa kalsada of Ms. Bella Muli Dela Merced from BAJ (Bachelor of Arts in Journalism).

The organization then proudly introduced its two guest speakers: Mr. Christwin Felix, an author, multimedia specialist, lead animator, and instructor at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines for about 12 years; and Ms. Chy Cosme, an advertising agency trainee who has previously been featured in We the Public and Scout Magazine.

Ms. Cosme discussed her experiences and lessons learned while working in the creative industry. “Take the risk or lose the chance, when there’s an opportunity take mo na agad.”

“Criticisms are good for you. Lahat may comment and nasasabi sa gawa mo for the sake na mas mapaganda yung gawa mo,” she added. Mr. Felix also shared his expertise in multimedia, layout, and animation.

In the latter part of the event, the organization announced the winners of the Best Digital Artwork Award, and the People’s Choice Award. The Eye of the Future of Mr. John Martin Hipolito from BABROUMNL received the People’s Choice Award, garnering a total of 209 reactions, 86 comments, and 48 shares, while Noong si Juan ay nagtanim sa kalsada of Ms. Bella Muli Dela Merced from BAJ obtained the Best Digital Award.

The said event of the PUP Communication Society was made for students who are fond of art; those who plan to delve into their own creative side; to give praise and appreciation to local artists’ knowledge, abilities, and works; to inspire students to continue and deepen their fondness for creating and designing; and to utilize art as a platform in promoting different advocacies to the youth.
