SPEAKER’S OFFICE SENDS AID TO OIL SPILL VICTIMS

The office of Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and Tingog Party-list Representative Yedda Marie Romualdez in partnership with the Marcos administration through Secretary Rex Gatchalian of the Department of Social Welfare and Development distributed P3,000 in cash assistance recently to each of the 600 oil spill victims in Oriental Mindoro.

The Speaker’s office also gave the province’s first congressional district led by Representative Arnan Panaligan a P500,000 calamity fund.

The P3,000 cash aid came from the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program of the DSWD.

The release of financial aid was arranged by the Speaker’s office and Tingog led by Rep. Romualdez and Representative Jude Acidre.

The distribution was attended by Panaligan and local officials led by Vice Mayor Marvin Rivera of Pola town.

It was held at the Pola auditorium. Other attendees included Councilors Agustin Rivas Jr., Rommel Bathan, Jerrymil Lincallo, and Wilson Soleto.

The extension of cash aid to oil spill victims followed a similar activity in Davao de Oro, where beneficiaries were families affected by the recent earthquake in the province.

Like in Mindoro Oriental, the Speaker and Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez arranged the release of the assistance to the victims.

For her part, Rep. Romualdez said: “We know the amount of assistance does not really cover the damage caused by disasters. But we hope it alleviates a little our citizens’ plight in times of need.”
